The cool weather in Norfolk was a welcome respite for many, even a shock for some. A fabulous first day of racing saw very few incidents or accidents, just the odd oil spill or three to keep the Marshals busy. Day 2 also had some high quality action. A roll in qualifying for one of the Pumas at Murrays saw a pause in the action, but at no physical harm to the driver.

Breckland Trophy
A puncture on 14-year-old slicks ended a fabulous charge to 4th place from Kevin Jones in the "John Pope Special" Vauxhall Magnum, a car last raced in 1982, when Gerry Marshall took it to 4th overall and 1st in class. Race 2 for the R-Werks Special Saloons & Modsports saw the Magnum go one better: despite a second puncture, Jones fought back from last place to 3rd overall, a drive that earned him the commentators' nod for the Breckland Trophy. Not content with one podium, Jones also brought the Ferrari 250 home 3rd in the Midland Classic Restorations Ecurie Classic K race and drove it home on the road afterwards too!
Unsung Hero
John Leslie took 2nd in class (15th overall) in the Swinging 60s, backed by his fastest-ever pit stop in 24 years of racing — thanks to co-ordinators Malcolm Johnson and Ian Everett. His unusual choice of car, a Reliant Sabre 6, continues to prove reliable.
David Stallard was in his element in these conditions, he doesn't like the heat! His cracking photography perhaps reflects that joy, take a look at his galleries and buy a photo or two.

A quiet word on noise curfew. Following on from the weekend, we wanted to clarify that noise restrictions that are imposed on the circuit, are typically enforced by the local council. A visiting club and its members have to agree to comply with this, and any breach risks the future viability of the circuit to hold race meetings. We are drivers ourselves; no-one wants to push their cars, so we try put together a timetable that gives you the option for you to sit and wait until you can start your engine, then drive to scrutineering. It's good to get into the habit of glancing at the first page of the final instructions for the times for that venue and then the
timetable, to help you plan.
