With Richard Wos announcing his retirement from the CSCC committee and the role of treasurer, after 22 years service, your committee took nominations and recently voted in our new interim Treasurer, Malcolm Johnson.
Whilst the club constitution doesn't specifically prevent a member holding two senior roles, it was agreed that it was good practice for Malcolm to immediately pass on the Deputy Chair responsibility to someone else. Longstanding member Tony Rushforth was nominated and voted in as interim Vice Chairman by the committee last week.
As required in our club rules, the voting for these permanent positions will take place at the AGM in November.
For those of you new to the club, the CSCC Committee is made up of volunteers, of which all are current or former racers and those closely involved in motorsport. They are there to help advise and guide the Directors, at scheduled meetings and on an ad hoc basis. Many of you witness the dedicated work they put in at the race meetings.
Treasurer and Adams & Page Swinging 60s Driver Representative, Malcolm Johnson: here is a little more about the man behind the beautiful Elan and Europa.

My motorsport career began at the tender age of 17 when I paid £5.00 for my first competition licence in 1973. Since then I have competed in a wide range of motorsport disciplines from Auto-tests, Sprints, Hill Climbs and Special Stage Rallies before switching to circuits in the mid-1980s.
I have raced a wide range of cars, from MGs, to Sierra Cosworths, to Radicals, before moving back in time to historics, with TVRs & Lotus competing in many overseas events including six runs in the Spa 6 hrs. My first CSCC event was nearly 20 years ago & I currently run my Lotus Europa & Lotus Elan with the Club.

A long career in Construction management taught the importance of careful & strict financial control & the importance of quality & care which I hope to bring to the role of Club Treasurer.
I would like to thank Richard Wos for his key role in developing the Club over the last 22 years & I look forward to continuing his good work & together with the Club Directors, meeting the challenges of operating a Motorsport Club in the current financial climate.
Tony Rushforth starts, or should that be continues, in the role of Vice Chairman? It's a role he held for many years in the past, as well as being Club Chairman more than fifteen years ago.
I had gained experience in similar positions back in Yorkshire with Slaithwaite (pronounced Slawit) Motor Club, supporting them for 5 years before moving South. In trying to always find something positive to say, I probably have too much to say (many will agree with that!).
I started my motorsport career in 1973, competing in my first all night road rally in my Mk1 Cortina, turning up at signing on with my little burgundy driving licence, proudly showing the necessary “Pink Slip” denoting I had recently passed my driving test.
After several years of competing in Road and Stage Rallies, Autotests, Hillclimbs and Sprints, I then supported my eldest son in karting from ’88 to ’95, before moving on to circuit racing (but not me as a driver). First racing in the BRSCC Mighty Minis Championship, then CSCC Tin Tops and finally MG Trophy before moving on to race team management, where I continued to support him throughout.
I joined CSCC in 2005 when I came along to pitch an alternative Mini Championship to the Clubs two founders, Richard Culverhouse and Richard Wos.
After a little persuasion, I agreed to expand the type of cars and the TinTops Series was born, which I coordinated for 5 years before handing the reigns over to Stuart Levers.
I have served on the Committee throughout my membership, currently acting as Driver Liaison with my daughter Charlotte at race meetings.
I look forward to working with our Chairman John, Hugo, David and all other members of the Club Committee to ensure we provide some of the best racing for both classic and modern cars in the CSCC calendar.
