Spa 3 Hours entries open at Midday, Friday 5th January

Updated: Jan 5

Happy New Year to you all! The CSCC is once again the UK promoter for the fabulous Spa 3 Hours race, that takes place this year between 26th and 28th April.

As mentioned in the title, we will open 3 Hours entries tomorrow, Friday 5th January, at Midday. The CSCC event page, will be updated, with entry form and link to online entry (for those who have registered) here: https://www.classicsportscarclub.co.uk/spa-summer-classic

Entries to all other CSCC categories racing at the Spa Summer Classic event will open later, in February.

This 180 minute race (preceded by 45 minutes of qualifying) is the headline event at the Spa Summer Classic and is for cars up to 1976, complying with FIA Appendix K regulations. This means that all cars from the CSCC Mintex Classic K and Mike Hawthorn Jaguar Challenge are eligible, with minimal changes (an in-date FIA seat, FIA roll cage padding and FIA underwear for drivers). Our pre-1961 Jaguars are welcome to enter, as a Mintex Classic K competitor, on this occasion.

Priced at £1895, this still represents excellent race time per driver (the race is for 2 or 3 drivers) at what is widely regarded as one of the world's best circuits. Entering directly through the CSCC does help the club financially and ensures we can keep supporting you each season, so thank you in advance.

New for 2024, the 3 Hours race will take place on the Sunday, to finish early afternoon, rather than it's previous slot on Saturday night. This should give you the potential to get back to the UK on a Sunday evening crossing and ensures the race takes place in good light too.

We will update and publish our racing overseas guide in February, to help you decide on whether you should consider a Carnet and which route to travel. For now: since our successful 2022 foray to Spa, many private, amateur racers, towing their own cars, have raced in Europe with few issues and without the need for a Carnet. However, we are aware of others in October who have been stopped and fined by French customs en route to Spa. Travelling directly to a Belgian or Dutch port will bypass those tricky French officials, but as has always been the case, there are no guarantees when it comes to dealing with officialdom. More on this next month.
