Tin
Tops
Started in 2005 the Tin Tops has become very
popular and well supported series. It is also particularly suited
to novice racers who can start in relatively cheap cars and move
on as they gain experience. Driving Standards are strictly policed.
Following the standard CSCC series format the races are run over
forty minutes and include the added excitement of a mandatory pit-stop,
so that two drivers may share a car (and costs). Two drivers may
enter as a team in two cars in order to keep costs down even further
for people who don't want to do (and pay for) more than a 20 minute
race or share their car.
Cars range from the much-loved and iconic
Mini Cooper S to modern-day cars such as the Honda Civic Type R.
The class structure is based on engine capacity
to encourage competitive racing through the field and give everyone
something to race for. Cars are battling all down the field and
provide great entertainment – spectators can watch their favourite
“hot hatches” being driven on the limit! New for 2011
we have introduced an additional class to include cars up to 1600cc
so they can race other cars of similar performance.
All outright race-winning cars will have a
30-second timed pit-lane penalty during the driver change window
when it next enters a race. This is to be served in a designated
area SEPARATELY and in addition to the usual pitstop manouevre.
Subsequent wins will incur an extra 15-second penalty. These penalties
to remain throughout the season. We welcome enquiries about the
eligibility of cars for this series.
